THE SILVER STAR FAMILIES OF AMERICA
SILVER STAR DAY A GREAT SUCCESS IN CONNECTICUT
Greetings to All -- Today was such a special day in CT -- Rev. Liz Wold was able to have a wonderful ceremony in her hometown at which the Silver Star Flag which she purchased was raised -- veterans and townspeople looking on -- as Rev. Liz read a special reading she wrote and also, of course, the town's proclamation was read.

Too today, a special notice was sent out through CT to all VFW, American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, CT Blue Star Mothers, Silver Star Families, military personal, military families, and veterans across our state telling how much we honor their sacrifice and appreciate the liberties under which we live thanks to the brave service of our beloved military personel past and present.

Word has gone out through local TV shows and also I have been asked to speak on yet another TV show on May 9th to again explain about the Silver Star Families of America and their purpose.

The governor's State Proclamation for May 1, 2007 being Silver Star Families of America Day in our state has been sent out by attachment to people across the state.  A copy will hang in the Town Hall in Winsted, CT near the Wall of Honor.

Flyers, posters, our history and vision, applications for banners, membership applications, etc., were all given to the main VAVS workers at our VA facilities in our state.  The HR department reviewed everything and tomorrow I will have to call to see exactly how everything played out at the facilities (unfortunately, I had to work during the day today).

We have now added six new members to the Silver Star Families in Connecticut:
F. Mae Flynn
Carol Andrew
Renee Whalen
Arlene Grasso
Dianne Croce
David McGee

With Rev. Liz Wold and I (Rev. Lin McGee) -- this brings our membership to 8.  I know there will be more as our networking broadens and our purpose is known.

The Silver Star Families in CT are working with the Blue Star Mothers in CT to have Yellow Ribbons placed on every town green during the month of May to honor our troops, our vets, our wounded -- and our military families who love them.  We have been sending flyers out to other VSO in the state and just recently one of the CT BSM was able to send a copy of the flyer to every single town's leadership with an explanation of the campaign.

The SSFoA are making steady, foundational groundwork here in CT that will prove to have lasting benefits for the veterans that we honor so much!  Silver Star Families is now a name that most know, respect, and wish to have more information on.  We will be speaking at many upcoming troop/veteran ceremonies and VSO meetings/gatherings throughout the month of May.  It is my hope that Rev. Liz Wold will allow us to fly her Silver Star Flag at the State Capital on July 4th for the Massing of the Colors!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

AND CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE ON MAKING SILVER STAR DAY A SUCCESS!!!  YOU ALL WORKED SO HARD AND IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SO MANY LIVES!!  THANK YOU!!!
