THE SILVER STAR FAMILIES OF AMERICA
~OHIO~
Mayors of Dayton, Cuyahoga Falls, and Columbus, Ohio
signed Proclamations declaring
May 1st Silver Star Day in their cities.
This Saturday Nate (my son, for our new members, wounded vet of Operation Iraqi Freedom)  & I traveled to Canfield Ohio to present a Silver Star Flag to the Canfield War Vet Museum.  Here is a link to the Museum's website  http://www.warvetmuseum.org/

The Museum has a new flag pole installed to fly our Flag.  I met  Lew Speece who started and runs the Museum and Capt. Charlie St. James, of the 910th Airlift Wing Reserve Station Retiree's Center in Niles, Ohio.  Capt. St James has been instrumental in getting the news of SSFOA out in Ohio through his position at the 910th which has 300 members.  Capt St James has identified close to 80 members who are eligible for the Silver Star Banner and he is still researching the rest of the 300.  We plan to have some kind of presentation in June to distribute these banners.  While in Niles, Nate & I plan to meet a wounded vet, a Silver Star Banner recipient and his family, who I met on our Myspace, for dinner.

April 28th I will be attending a comedy show supporting the families of our fallen Heroes.  One of our Myspace friends is sponsoring this show and she has graciously invited me to set up a table with information about SSFOA and a donation box.

April 29th will find me standing in the back of an old Army truck, speaking on behalf of SSFOA at the 5th Annual Support the Troops Rally.

I want to again thank the Board for allowing me to create a Myspace for SSFOA.  We have 338 "Friends", mostly our Kids.  We have sent out at least 5 banners as a result of our being on Myspace.  We met Susan, the lady putting on the Comedy show there.  And Toby Keith is our Friend so you can all say you are friends with Toby *L*
